A bridal show to be

I have been trying to stay busy with my crafting, but lately its very challenging!  Work has been insane, and with day to day activities, life gets in the way of my hobby :)  But recently I was asked if I would participate in a bridal show at a shop called Amiro in St. Augustine Florida, right down the street from Jacksonville.

I was of course very excited and very flattered that I was asked to be part of the show.  So here are a few of my recent creations, I have several in the works as of now, but these are the pretties I have been working on!

All the ring bearer pillows are burlap and vintage lace that a dear friend found for me at a remnant shop.  I couldn't resist using the lace.

Playing with wood, yes I am experimenting.  I am enjoying using my husbands power tools, he probably is enjoying the tutorials!  I have more to come, just need to paint!

Recently I started playing with chalk board paint.  I am trying out new mediums with many of my favorites.  This is a fake cake I make, to display the cake toppers.  The show is in September, so I have a little bit of time, but its going to go by fast.  Lots to do!

Hopes for Blue Chair

So for the past few months, not only have I been busy with my full time job, charity events, interior design events, traveling and great friends weddings, not to mention working on the house, and then the yard, just to name a few things that have occupied my time, crafting has been on the back burner.  SO, inspiration has been hard to come by and projects far and few between.  I have been trying to get in that room and work, and its been like pulling teeth, and not something I have been interested in working on.  My great husband has been so patient and listened to the complaining, and ranting about my creative juices are gone!  THEY ARE COMING BACK!
So now, we are back in business, and working on new ideas for Blue Chair.  Of course here is some inspiration I have been looking at lately, and had to share.   Wood is the next new medium that I am hoping to work with, in all respects.  And of course the original burlap and lace.  I have 2 tentative craft events hopefully, in my future, in Sept and then in November.  So I will keep you posted!  Glad to be back, hope I can continue to save some bloggy time!

Cluster of Flowers

So recently I was asked to create 3 clusters, like above, for a wedding cake, BUT it had to have black accents.  AND it had to have stems to attach them to the cake.

AND behold!  My interpretation, which was well received!  And to top it off (no pun intended) I received this picture below, of the beautiful cake!  I rarely get to see something like this, I was sooo excited!

Something Blue Chair

A friend of mine asked me to make her bridal sash for her gown, in March.  Here is what I created!  She sent me organza, silk, and a satin ribbon, and showed me some photos of what she wanted.  She also sent me her dress photos.  I was so scared, I had never worked with organza before, much less made a bridal sash.  But I went and got some material to help with the substrate, and I just winged it!  I think I did an ok job!
Inspiration

Had to try it on ; )  It will look better on a gown!

Mt. Dora Rennigers Picking

So, this past weekend my mom and I did something most ladies who follow my blog and who are interested in vintage items would LOVE TO DO! Take part in an antique flea market extravaganza.  This was in Mt. Dora at Rennigers.  This place is AMAZING!  Its in Florida, so if any of you have the pleasure to visit the Orlando area, this is highly recommended.   A few weekends a year, they have this amazing 800 vendor/booth set up, with thousands of amazing finds.  People come from all over, there were license plates from Canada!  I mean I thought it was good, but apparently its worth the drive ; )  Here are a few pics from the show.  OVERWHELMING!

So when we walked in, mom and I couldn't contain ourselves, we seriously didn't know which direction to walk, which way to look and how to maneuver, even though the crowds were few, we were not functioning at all!

 Loved these buckets!

So after awhile we noticed everyone had little carts they were rolling around.  We had brought little hand carts, like the ones you used to use in the airports.  And we attached old LL bean bags with bungy cords to the cards to help us carry things.  Those little carts people were carrying around, $40 bucks.  So that would have been $80 for the two of us, bring you a cart!  If you can make it there!

There were about 800 vendors, and about 300 who were permanent in little houses, and in covered areas.  So there were people from all over, we even met a guy from NC, who told us about a Charlotte flea market that may be worth trying one year.  I tell you, this was quite fun and we need to do this again!

My next blog will be my purchases :)  I didn't do a whole lot but I did enough damage to keep myself and B busy with more projects!  Love that man!
