Fleurs

So, its official, I am crafting with fabric!  I have my own thing going now, and Etsy is going to help me with this obsession with flowers!   I am also helping my good friend with a fundraiser for her marathon and her team in training for Lymphoma and Leukemia.  I am attaching some photos of some of the flowers I have made and the ones I am selling through Etsy and with the fundraising!  This is alot of fun, but alot of work!

This has been so much fun making that I have completed my Etsy page!  I have lots of friends asking for these, and have promised some to them and making custom orders.  Its been alot of fun to make for friends, and I will be making Christmas gifts soon!!  Blue Chair by Candacashley

Blue Chair

So, its time for some new things!  Transformations as I like to call it, starting fresh and new.  I am no abandoning my love for weddings, but incorporating a whole lot more!  I have been reading blogs, and enjoying so many things that now I am starting to make handmade crafts.  After the wedding, I had tons of burlap left over, and it just didn't make sense to get rid of it.  I am still in limbo with where we are going next, so my time is spent working on my creations!  I blogged a few things the other day with my creations, but I have some more to share!

I am starting my own shop, called Blue Chair.  Its in the first stages, very primitive, but working towards something good.  Starting to get on Etsy, and word of mouth!  Here are a few things that I have made, that will soon be on Etsy or already are!

This is my own personal shirt that I added two flowers that I made out of fabric.  I have really enjoyed making the flower pins, and they go with everything!

My other love, burlap is becoming my signature fabric!  I am going to use other fabrics of course, but burlap will be in many of my crafts.  This is a burlap flower pin, my grandmother and mother each own one, and will be wearing them all the time, especially since right now all the burlap I use is from my wedding!

This flower is made of a tweed material.  I thought it may be fun for winter, and into early spring.  The colors are bright and cheerful!  I am taking photos on my back patio, where I have several pieces that now have a rusted patina.  The color of the items were a pale sage green/blue.  Very vintage and perfect for my photos!
This was actually the very first flower pin I made.  Its this beautiful rose fabric, that has started to look tattered on the edges, which makes for a vintage effect.  Something I didn't plan but became a happy accident!

White lace and then a plaid flower pin.  Both are just so neat to either add to a shirt, jacket, purse, bag, your hair, or a fun hat!
My silver platter and debut for Blue Chair!  Laid out on a silver platter, may be something I do each time I make a bunch of flowers.  What girl doesn't love flowers!!

Next we have my other endeavor,  fabric transfers on burlap.  I am getting a lot of response to these.  The transfers were found through resources on the internet.  Of course, burlap will be my fabric of choice, but others are NOT out of the question.

I really can't wait to expand this portion of Blue Chair, and maybe other ideas will grow from the pillows.  ;)  Keep visiting, more to come on my Etsy site, and what I will be doing next!

I got inspired, and it made me want to go to the beach!

So I found on Style Me Pretty last week a blog about beach weddings.  It was very inspiring and it made me even want to visit the beach.  I am not what you call a beach bum, but my absolute favorite thing about the beach is right before the sun sets, and its dusk.  The lighting is amazing, the temperature is cooling.  Everyone is eating dinner and the beach is silent.  The only thing you hear is the ocean.  Its always a perfect hour.  That would be ideal to be married that hour, the most beautiful time of the day.  I tried to, but then it rained!   Oh well, here are some beautiful photos to oogle over!

Some burlap crafts....thank you blogs!

I found this amazing blog the other day,  http://tatertotsandjello.blogspot.com/ which I have fallen in love with.  I am making some of her ideas, and thinking of other ideas of my own.  I have had so much burlap from the wedding, I will have to re-post the burlap photos, that it was just too easy not to use my creativity!
So we got married in a barn, The Angus Barn that is, and I wanted rustic but elegant.  So each table was going to be set with tons of candles and a center candle piece of some form.  I anchored each table with a large 2' x 2' burlap square, with frayed edges, with a piece of lace over top.  The cake table, and all the other important tables had this burlap.  I just thought the juxtaposition was perfect for the wedding.  I also had several old windows, which I added photos of us through the years, and made stands for the windows.  We also had several photos of us, not just one of me.  Again, burlap was my anchor.

See the burlap and lace?  I also used a real piece of a tree for the cake, since it was rustic, and all around the barn were tables made of tree stumps, surrounded by Adirondack chairs.

The wish tree station, where people would write wishes to the bride and groom and hang them on the tree.  Burlap, can you find it?

Table settings.  Now, onto my newest creations with the left over burlap.  By the way, burlap is rather inexpensive, and can be used for so much.  And, is very casual.  I still have alot left over, we had 20 tables with burlap and loads of special tables.  I am going to keep some in tact, but other pieces, is fair game! Enjoy! Thank you Tatertots and Jello!

Above are some wreaths that I made using my burlap!  I have made one for my front door, and now I have one I am making for my good friend's mom as a gift.  Wreath Check out the ideas from Tatertots and Jello.

I have been experimenting with fabric transfers, and I have many of these just not made into pillows or anything yet.  I have birdcages, hot air balloons, flowers, bicycles, and beehives.  I have many more ideas with this, and on other materials as I am experimenting with those as well!

I
I have come up with several more ideas for the burlap.  This hanging decor, with my initial, a pin cushion in a tart container, and then a burlap flower pin.  And of course other flowers and yo yos....can't get enough of them! Enjoy!
